Open Monument Day

Two actors from the new theatre in Halle let us experience the visit of the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I to August Hermann Francke in 1713 as part of a theatre tour.

Visit places that are normally inaccessible, receive background information about buildings from experts, and engage in professional discussions about construction – we invite you to the Open Monument Day at the Foundations. The first special tour at 11 a.m. will compare the architectural design and usage of an 18th-century stage library and a 20th-century branch of the ULB during a guided tour. At 2 p.m., we’ll be climbing onto three roofs in Lindenhof with structural engineer Steffen Jacob, gaining unexpected insights and views.

You definitely shouldn't miss the delicious Francke rye bread baked in the historic oven from 1742. Coffee and cake will be served throughout the day at the bakery, accompanied by Zwio with Clemens Oerding and Eckart Gleim, who will create a lively atmosphere. As the final highlight of the day, a view from the balcony as part of King Friedrich Wilhelm's entourage, portrayed by Hilmar Eichhorn, is highly recommended. The popular Living History tour »Francke and the King« begins at 4:00 pm in the Orphanage.
