Research Centre

Together with the Gotha Research Centre at the University of Erfurt and the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel, the Francke Foundations are once again awarding a three-month international scholarship in 2025 to an excellent doctoral researcher from the East Central European region. Funding will be provided for projects focussing on research into the collections of all three institutions.

The Research Center, in cooperation with the National Library in Riga, is involved in the German-Latvian edition of the important curriculum vitae of F. B. Blaufuß.

The Leopoldina – Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften and the Research Centre of the Francke Foundations regularly organise events in cooperation as part of the series »Wissenschaftshistorische Seminare« (»History of Science Seminars«), which brings leading researchers in the early modern history of knowledge and science to Halle.

Since 2018, the Halle-based research institutions on the 18th century have been cooperating in organising the academic lecture series »Halle Lectures«. Every year, two outstanding, internationally renowned scientists present their views on the study of the 18th century and its significance in the context of the current world situation.
