Opening of the annual programme 2024 »Spielraum«
Every year around the birthday of the foundation's founder, the Francke Celebration takes place, inviting guests from near and far to a festive programme. During these stimulating days, we would like to get you in the mood for the "Spielraum" event year, which will take a differentiated look at education, creativity, visualisation and play. This is embedded in the 15th city-wide cultural theme year, which the foundations will be hosting together with the Puppentheater Halle in 2024.
Renowned brain researcher Gerald Hüther, whose research on personality development and advocacy of an education that meets the individual needs of children has made a significant contribution to the debate on contemporary education, has been invited to give the keynote speech.
With concerts, children's activities, the memorial hour at the Francke monument and the café at the historic wood-fired oven, we invite you to enjoy a rich programme.
Students of the Community School and the Latina State High School are involved in various social projects within the foundations. To honor them is the concern of the festive awarding of the student prizes of the company Pfeifer & Langen.
Every two years, members of the association are invited to be informed about the current status of the Friends' work and current projects. There is also an opportunity to talk to each other. The regular election of the Board of Directors is also on the programme in 2024.
Connoisseurs and aficionados know about the special nature of the format: two of the most talented students of the instrumental branch together create a solo evening in front of a large audience. Look forward with us to Varvara Demchenko on piano and Emilie Losfeld on violoncello.
Organic bakers Fischer and Kirn bake in the 18th-century wood-fired oven in the school town and invite visitors to enjoy coffee and cake. In the afternoon, children can bake their own Francke-Taler.
Renowned neurobiologist Prof Dr Gerald Hüther will set the scene for the year's discussions with his lecture: Learning with joy: How can this succeed? How can people develop their innate abilities? His plea for creativity and enthusiasm instead of pressure to perform and stress will lead on to the questions posed by the exhibition, which focuses on the value of visualisation.
Get to work! Hands on crafting in the Krokoseum. Family programme with craft activities in the kitchen and workshops and completely free in space and time with the exploration of KI.
How do I approach the world in order to understand it? A big question that, in view of the growing natural history and technical knowledge around 1800, was just as relevant to education as it is today. The principle of visualisation plays a timelessly important role here. Take part in the short guided tours by the team of curators, who vividly present their thoughts in the exhibition using numerous models and interactive stations.
The 360th birthday of August Hermann Francke is commemorated with singing, an address and flowers from all the institutions from the foundations. This year, the headmistress of the Montessori school, Kerstin Westphal, will speak about Montessori education and learning practice at the school. The musical accompaniment will be provided by the Stadtsingechor and Latina Brass.
After the memorial hour, coffee and cake await all guests at the orphanage. Organized by the Junior:innen of the Circle of Friends, the café is a cozy place for exchange. All are cordially invited. Donations for the implementation of social projects on the Foundation's premises are welcome.
Accompanied by the motet of the city choir of singers we go into the evening. This spiritual musical hour is combined with the Ecce celebration. We remember not only the deceased alumni of the foundation schools, but also many people who have been committed to the foundations in various ways and from whom we have had to say goodbye forever in the past year.
The Sunday kick-off will be the festive musical service, which we will celebrate in the Marktkirche. The Foundation's pastor Gabriele Zander will preach.
