Opening of the annual programme 2025 »All in order?«
Every year around the birthday of the foundation's founder, the Francke Celebration takes place, inviting guests from near and far to an inspiring festive program with high-level concerts, exclusive guided tours, an exhibition opening, playful children's activities, the commemorative hour at the Francke Monument and the café at the historic wood-fired oven. At the same time, the festive event on Saturday will be the inspiring prelude to our annual theme “All in order?”.
This year's keynote speaker is transformation researcher and sustainability expert Prof. Dr. Maja Göpel.
With concerts, children's activities, the memorial hour at the Francke monument and the café at the historic wood-fired oven, we invite you to enjoy a rich programme.
Connoisseurs and aficionados know about the special nature of the format: two of the most talented students of the instrumental branch together create a solo evening in front of a large audience. Look forward with us to Zoya Krushelnitskaya (piano) and Jakob Geiß (bassoon) with Dirk Fischbeck (piano). The young musicians will play works by Bach, Chopin and Debussy, among others.
We do not charge admission, but we are happy to receive donations that will benefit specialised musical training.
The organic bakeries Fischer and Kirn bake in the town's oldest wood-fired oven and invite you to enjoy coffee and cake. In the afternoon, children can bake their own Francke-Taler.
Political economist Maja Göpel researches and publishes at the interface between science, politics and society. She has become a widely heard voice in the discourse on social change. Her keynote speech is a well-founded plea to review current values and work together to shape social transformation.
Only a genius can see through the chaos? Children certainly do, but how does that fit in with adults' ideas of order? In the family programme, everyone can enjoy the delightful disorder and take part in practical experiments to design different systems of order according to all the rules of the art.
Accompany the artist on a tour and take in the artistic interpretation of the interplay between nature and art. The large-format photos show expressive wave sculptures in the forest that tell of the elemental force of nature. The structure, order and movement of the sculptures inspire reflection on supposed opposites.
The new digital contemporary witnesses tour provides an interactive insight into the time when the reconstruction of the foundations was characterised by uncertainty and yet many found the courage to create something new. We cordially invite you to a convivial introduction to the tour and look forward to sharing your memories in person.
All the institutions in the foundations commemorate August Hermann Francke's birthday with singing, a speech and flowers. This year, Silke Berndsen, librarian at the Halle-Wittenberg University and State Library, will give an insight into the work of the university branch libraries on the foundation's premises. The Stadtsingechor choir and Latina Brass will provide the usual quality musical accompaniment.
After the memorial service, all guests can enjoy coffee and cake in the orphanage. The café, organised by the junior members of the Association of Friends of Francke Foundations, is a cosy place to exchange ideas. Everyone is cordially invited.
Donations for the realisation of social projects on the foundation's premises are welcome.
Accompanied by the motet of the city choir of singers we go into the evening. This spiritual musical hour is combined with the Ecce celebration. We remember not only the deceased alumni of the foundation schools, but also many people who have been committed to the foundations in various ways and from whom we have had to say goodbye forever in the past year.
The Francke celebrations will conclude on Sunday with a festive musical service, which we will celebrate together with the market town. The sermon will be preached by the foundation's pastor Gabriele Zander and the Hallenser Madrigalisten will provide musical splendour.
