ABC book project in the LeoLab with the children of the Amos Comenius daycare centre

View of the pages of the ABC book, each with one letter and two coloured linocut prints showing animals with the respective initial letter.

To mark the transition to primary school, the preschoolers at the Amos Comenius daycare centre developed and printed an ABC book at the end of the school year in collaboration with the education department. In several workshops, terms were collected - from A for ant to O for Olaf to Z for magic wand - motifs were designed, print templates were produced and finally an ABC book with all the print results was compiled. The day-care centre children thus followed in the footsteps of their institution's namesake. Johann Amos Comenius (1592–1670) is regarded as the author of the first European textbook with texts and pictures. Each of the children received a copy of the complete work of art as a souvenir.

We would like to thank the 26 artists for working together, for their great ideas and results, wish them all the best for the start of primary school and look forward to repeating the project in the new school year!
