Illusion Cabinet of Artefacts and Natural Curiosities. Chaos - order, music and light

The Cabinet of Artefacts and Natural Curiosities with its 3,000 objects in a specific organisational structure is also the source of inspiration for the Museum Night. The elaborate video mapping in the Freylinghausen Hall utilises artist Urs Wehrli's idea of ‘tidying up’ art. Shapes and colours are set in motion, creating chaos, searching for original patterns of order and new contexts.

The sound for the light installation is provided by a world premiere by Ivo Nitschke. The Staatskapelle percussionist and Andreas Voß on cello and viola da gamba improvise inspired by the aura of the original 18th century chamber.

The idea of the chamber is also creatively implemented in the imaginative children's and family programme and short guided tours through the chamber and in the recently opened special exhibition. One theme, many variations - let yourself be surprised.
